Kuntwara villagers facing threat due to land erosion

KISHTWAR, Mar 18: Tara Chand Parihar Chairman Panchayat Halqa Kuntwara has expressed his grave concern over the failure of State administration to provide succor to the people hit by heavy snow and rain fall in the Kuntwara area of Inderwal Assembly Segment.
In a statement issued here today, he said people in this far-flung and remote area are facing many hardships due to callousness of the Government.
He said the landslides had already created havoc in the area and the situation has turned worst after the recent heavy rains and snow fall. He alleged that the administration has till date made no arrangements to shift the people from the vulnerable areas to safer places.
He said in Mandal area of Kuntwara the house of Sain Dass, son of Sant Ram has been damaged by landslide but no body came to assess the loss. He said the R&B Department has constructed road beneath the residential houses in the area due to which there is apprehension of the land erosion. The other houses facing the threat  due to caving in of land beneath belong to Lekh Raj son of Shri Lal of Salana, Vidya Lal son of Gosani Ram and Om Raj  son of Jodha Ram all of Salana. The people have shifted their all luggage and goods from their residential houses in the area.
Tara Chand alleged that the area has been totally neglected by the successive Governments and people are facing a miserable life as no attention has been paid to construct bridges, roads and other developmental infrastructure in the area.
