JAMMU, Aug 11: The Kunwar Viyogi Digital Lab, established by KVM Trust, was inaugurated today in the Department of Dogri, University of Jammu.
Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary to Government, Higher Education Department, J&K, inaugurated the lab in the presence of Prof Umesh Rai, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu; Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, Chairman, KVM Trust; Prof Sucheta Pathania, Dean, Faculty of Arts and HOD Dogri and all faculty members of the department.
In his address, Alok Kumar said that in today’s technologically driven and digitalized world, this initiative by the Dogri Department in collaboration with the KVM Trust will help the students to equip themselves in emerging as technocrats and gaining benefits of computer based learnings and hoped that the students and scholars will optimally utilize this advanced facility to progress in their career and achieved new heights.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Umesh Rai, who presided over the function and initiated his address in Dogri language, lauded the efforts of KVM Trust and signified the importance of technology in literature, translations, perseverance of literary data and language archives. He further said that efforts should be made to take the Dogri Language to the National /International arena and not confine it to the Jammu region.
Speaking on the occasion, Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, Chairman of KVM Trust, highlighted many distinctive qualities of Kunwar Viyogi’s personality as a leading figure in every venture, an inspirer and above all in managing the activities, plans etc. He analyzed the contribution of Kunwar Viyogi who opened new horizons not only in Dogri literature but in the field of Dogra Culture also.
Prof Sucheta Pathania, HoD Dogri, highlighted the importance and relevance of this Digital Lab. Prof Sushma Sharma, former HoD Dogri, presented the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the programme.
The Function was attended by Prof Lalit Mangotra , President of Dogri Sansatha Jammu; Padma Shree Mohan Singh Slathia , galaxy of writers, intellectuals, associates & relatives of Kunwar Viyogi, students, scholars, teachers & officers of Jammu University and prominent citizens. Dr Sandeep Dubey, Asstt Professor of the Dogri Department, conducted proceedings of the programme.
