KU’s 20th Annual Convocation likely in Sept

Srinagar, Aug 1: The University of Kashmir is abuzz with preparations as it gets ready to host its much-awaited 20th annual convocation in September this year.
While the final date for the convocation is yet to be fixed, reliable sources within the University have indicated that it is likely to take place in September.
The University has officially made a formal request to the Lieutenant Governor (LG), Manoj Sinha, who also serves as the University’s chancellor, to extend an invitation to the Chief Guest for the event.
“Once the acceptance from the chief guest is confirmed, the University will proceed with finalizing the dates for the convocation,” an official said.
He added that this grand event is expected to see the participation of nearly 200 students, alongside university officials and other dignitaries.
In line with the preparations, the university has issued a notification urging eligible students to register online through the university’s website. The notification specifies that the 20th Annual Convocation will honor students who have successfully completed their Ph.D., M.Phil, MD/MS, and diploma courses in Anesthesiology, Ophthalmology, and Gynecology from January 2021 to July 2023.
“Candidates securing the 1st position in various postgraduate and undergraduate degree programs from January 2021 to July 2023 will be acknowledged with prestigious Gold/Silver Medals and Cash Prizes. The programs eligible for these awards encompass a wide range, from arts and sciences to law, medicine, and more,” it stated.
It further stated that to participate in the convocation, all eligible candidates falling under the specified categories are required to complete their online registration by or before 10th August 2023. “The registration process can be accessed on the university’s official website http://kashmiruniversity.net/. Along with the registration, a fee of Rs 300/- needs to be paid, enabling the university to prepare the recipients’ Medals, Degrees, and Special Identity Cards well in time for the event,” it stated.
