JAMMU, Sept 13: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jammu, under the ageis of Directorate of Extension, SKUAST- J, organized one day workshop cum training program at village Changiya, block Arnia, Tehsil Bishnah of Jammu district to sensitize the rural women of border area in view of celebration of National Nutrition Month, being observed across the country.
The program was cordinated by Dr Sheetal Badyal, SMS Home Science under the overall supervision and guidance of Dr K S Risam, Vice Chancellor and Director Extension SKUAST-J and was attended by a number of rural women and adolescent girls, field functionaries of Catholic Social Service Society, Panches and Sarpanch of the village.
The participants during the workshop also took a pledge to maintain hygiene and avoid the use of plastic bags and single use plastic bottles, containers for storing eatables, pickles and other household works.
Poonam Abrol, Program Assistant, demonstrated to women scientific ways of enhancing nutritive value of pulses, cereals etc. Beneficiaries were also distributed ,vegetables seeds for kitchen garden .Others who attended the program included Madhulika Sharma (CSS) Kusumlata (Sarpanch), Sharda Devi (Panch) and Geeta Devi.
