KVK Samba conferred with ‘District Award’

SAMBA, Jan 31: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Samba under the aegis of Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies Jammu conferred with the prestigious “District Award” from District Administration Samba for outstanding services and technology dissemination in agriculture sector in District Samba on Republic Day.
KVK has got this award under the leadership of Professor JP Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu and the direct supervision of Dr SK Gupta Director Extension SKUAST-Jammu.
The award was presented to Dr Vinod Gupta, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Samba by Anuradha Gupta, Deputy Commissioner Samba and Keshav Sharma DDC Chairman, Samba for outstanding contribution of KVK Samba.
Dr Vinod Gupta gave the credit to Prof JP Sharma, Vice Chancellor SKUAST Jammu for their support, motivation and guidance in achieving this milestone.
KVK Samba received the award on the basis of its performance and working during the recent years carried out by the whole team of KVK Samba. The activities of KVK Samba was acknowledged by District Administration Samba which included success story of many progressive farmers, a women entrepreneur, mushroom growers, beekeepers and introduction of high yielding varieties with horizontal spread.
The prominent role of KVK in disseminating and increasing area under mustard and pulses in the district vis-à-vis increased adoption of judicious use of pesticides for control of insect pests like fall armyworm in Maize, aphids in mustard, organic vegetable production, value addition of locally available fruits and vegetables, direct seeded rice, adoption of floriculture, beekeeping, mushroom cultivation, poultry farming and promoting self-help groups for achieving sustainability of the farming community was also recognized.
