KVM highlights demands before MLA Kathua

JAMMU, Nov 18: A meeting of Kathua Vikas Manch (KVM) was held at Govindsar here in which the development issues of Kathua were taken up with newly elected MLA, Dr Bharat Bushan.
The members sought the attention of the MLA for early functioning of already completed Inter State Bus Stand (ISBS) Kathua, construction of pillar based flyover bridge from Maghar Khad to Sahar Khad on Jammu Pathankot National Highway 44(A-1), proper development of Parshoram Ji Chowk near D C Office , Kathua and Dream Land Park Chowk with adequate provision of rotary/ round about and expansion on different sides.
Some of the members demanded restoration of water bodies, the maintenance of Gair Mumkin pond opposite Easy Day Shopping Complex retrieved and developed by district administration six years back besides, development of Barmora Pond in ward 21 and pond near Sankat Mochan temple Ward 13, Sawan Chak on the pattern of Birla Park. Kalibari, shifting of the Fire and Emergency Service Station at a conveniently accessible location preferably near interstate Bus Stand Kathua and widening of the link road from National Highway to Dream Land park via GMC gate along with Kathua Khad.
The members highlighted the demand of beautification /development cum illumination along both sides of Kathua canal from Gurudwara Sawan Chak to Kuka Chak, construction cum widening of link road on both sides of Kathua Canal from DC office Kathua to Housing Colony Kathua.
The issue regarding proper provision of community bathrooms complex/ghats for performing rituals and the toilet complexes at densely populated locations in Kathua Bazar, proper traffic management at Kalibari Chowk and streamlining the functioning of ration depots were also discussed in the meeting. Members demanded removal of hindrances in providing basic amenities like drinking water, electricity and black topping of roads to the residents of JK Board Housing Colony, Kathua, upgrading of Government High School Govindsar to 10+2 level, proper development of Cremation Ground Kuka Chack on the bank of Sahar Khad and provision of additional bridges over Kathua canal near Friends Colony for reducing the traffic jams.
The promotion of tourism in Kandi belt was also highlighted by the members.
Dr Bharat Bushan reiterated his commitment to develop Kathua as model constituency and said developing Kathua canal corridor from Magar Khad to Shar Khad connecting Ward No 6 and 7 with Bus Stand through bridge.
The prominent people including DDC Vice Chairman, Radhunandan Singh (Bablu) KVM president, Sat Pal Mahajan, Prof Ram Murti Sharma, Saroop Chand, patrons and others members were present.
