JAMMU, June 12: There is a cultural wave from Jammu that is set to strike the national capital on June 17. Talented youth from the land of warriors, artists and kings will showcase the power of Dogra heritage on the extravagant stage of Kingdom of Dreams in Gurugram.
Cultural Cocktail is being organized by the Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust (KVMT), armed with a mission to give the rich culture of Jammu a bigger platform, and connect it to a global audience.
Established in the memory of celebrated Dogri poet, the late Group Captain Randhir Singh, also known in literary circles as ‘Kunwar Viyogi’, the Trust is dedicated to boost and nurture young talent in a variety of arts, creating networks with educational institutions and cultural groups.
“There is artistic power all around us, but identifying and supporting it takes a special kind of dedication,” said Poonam Singh Jamwal, founder of the KVM Trust and the daughter of Kunwar Viyogi. “Many artists yearn for opportunities to share their craft with the world, but seldom get opportunities, if not get any encouragement,” she said.
“My father’s motto was ‘Share Abundance’ and our mission is to give the youth the chance to turn their talent into more than just a hobby “, she asserted.
Cultural Cocktail will feature ‘Ghar: Prem Ki Gagar’, a moving dance drama about love and loss by celebrated Kathak dancer Sanchita Abrol. The production is a unique adaptation of Kunwar Viyogi’s Sahitya Akademi award winning poem ‘Ghar’.
Dynamic Jazz dancer Anmol Jamwal is set to steal the show with his dance production titled ‘Taboo’, a celebration of the freedom of expression.
Cultural Cocktail will also cast a spotlight on Jammu’s theatre talent with the Hindi adaptation of Shakespeare’s ‘Twelfth Night’ directed by Jammu’s young stage icon Aarushi Thakur Rana.
Power packed performances on one of the biggest stages in the capital, Cultural Cocktail will leave the audience with tears, cheers and a major dose of awe. Grab a taste at the Kingdom of Dreams in Gurugram this Saturday on June 17.
