Labourer electrocuted, 2 others sustain severe electric shock

UDHAMPUR, July 17: A labourer was electrocuted and his two coworkers sustained severe electric shock when the trio came in contact with 11 KV supply line while performing paint work at Mechanical Division of PWD at Omarah Morh Udhampur, here today.
The deceased has been identified as Dev Raj (27), son of Charan Dass, resident of Dalsar in Ramnagar. One of the injured, namely Ashok Kumar (23), son of Kaku Ram of village Kudwal in Tehsil Ramnagar has been referred to GMC Hospital Jammu in view of his serious condition. The other injured, identified as Surjeet Kumar (26) son of Puttu of Ladda, Tehsil Udhampur, presently putting up at Jakheni, was undergoing treatment at District Hospital Udhampur.
Reports said that the trio was hired for paint work at Mechanical Division of PWD at Omarah Morh Udhampur. They were painting roof shed of the workshop when Dev Raj accidently came in contact with 11KV supply line running above the shed.
All the three workers sustained electric shock. While Dev Raj died on the spot, the other two fell from the shed after receiving electric shock.
