JAMMU, July 4: A labourer was killed in accident in Gharani area, falling under the jurisdiction of RS Pura Police Station.
As per police sources, a labourer identified as Birbal Kumar of Bihar was killed after falling from a tractor in Gharani area.
Being labour class, the associates of the deceased were unaware of informing the incident to the police and left for their native village for performing last rites of the deceased.
Police contacted them and later the body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu for autopsy.
The tractor has been seized, while his driver identified as Mohan Lal Bhagat escaped from the spot.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station RS Pura and hunt has been launched to nab the driver.
