LEH, Aug 13: The administration of the union territory of Ladakh has done nothing in border areas instead they are just busy developing infrastructure around Leh city, focusing LG and VVIP areas.
This was stated by LAHDC Leh former Executive Councillor and sitting Chushul Councillor Konchok Stanzin while addressing a press conference to highlight various border issues. He added that there was huge celebration across Ladakh to mark the second anniversary of UT Ladakh but the UT administration did nothing on the ground to improve the lifestyle of people in Border regions.
Talking about the recent recruitment issues in the Border battalion of Ladakh Police, Konchok Stanzin said, he had been raising the demand to give special relaxation to the youths residing on the border region in recruitment drive carried out by various organizations be it Police, Army, Paramilitary forces but unfortunately nothing was done in this regard from Government side.
Konchok added that the recently held border battalion recruitment rally was a good opportunity for all the youths of border areas but it’s unfortunate to see that only 4 candidates got selected and the reason for which is unable to understand. He added that during war like situation, border residents be it young or old, had extended support to Army requiring no special physical stamina but when it comes to recruitment in jobs, they asked for certain fix criteria which is unjustified.
He appealed to UT administration, MP Ladakh, Hill Council and all other concerned leaders and officials to make the vacancy of border battalion reserved to the young candidates residing in border areas only. Highlighting other issues of border areas, he said that the tall claims of UT Administration and Hill Council promising to focus the border area have been exposed.
He stressed the need for practical and proper implementation of the Changthang Development Package designed to cater to the core needs of the pastoral and agro-pastoral communities of Changthang.
