LEH, May 29: The Union Territory Administration in Ladakh has accorded sanction to the constitution of Steering Committees at the Union Territory and District Level for the implementation of the Lakhpati Didi initiative of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.
While the UT Level Committee shall be headed by Administrative Secretary, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, UT of Ladakh, the District Level Committee shall be headed by the Deputy Commissioner(s) of different districts.
As per an order, the steering committees have been tasked with advising on strategy and roadmap for the implementation of the Lakhpati Didi initiative, coordinating and ensuring collaboration within the schemes of Department of Rural Development and other relevant line Departments for convergent efforts, recommending measures to effectively operationalise the initiative, reviewing and guiding in developing necessary knowledge and resource materials for capacitating the functionaries and stakeholders.
The committees shall also deliberate and give recommendations on matters relevant to the topic, periodically monitor the progress of the initiative and take steps for accelerating the progress, guide the mission unit in creating a robust monitoring framework and necessary MIS to track progress of the convergence and livelihoods initiatives, review the monitoring reports, success stories, and scalable models/solutions and recommend for scaling such efforts, and recommend for constituting various specialist groups/sub-groups/task forces etc as considered necessary and co-opt other members to the Steering Committee for the specific inputs.
