LEH, Mar 11: A review meeting was today called by Divisional Commissioner, Ladakh, Saugat Biswas, who is also the in-charge Secretary, Civil Aviation, to discuss issues faced by the civil aviation sector.
There was deliberation on the financial and physical achievements of 36 helipads, development of heliports at Leh, Kargil and Zanskar, the status of the hangar at Sindhu Ghat Leh and the operation of Mi-172 helipads at Leh and Kargil.
The officials informed the Divisional Commissioner of 36 work projects sanctioned for UT Ladakh, including 19 for Leh and 17 for Kargil. Biswas exhorted DC Kargil to propose a helipad at Ralakung in the Zanskar sub-district.
During the discussion on the design and specifications of the helipads, Biwas asked the Deputy Commissioner of both Leh and Kargil districts to hold meetings with Pawan Hans and AAI and design the facilities of high standards. He also directed the officials that all the helipads should have the capacity of the landing of Mi-172.
Biswas also instructed the officials to construct roads for the helipads and further directed them to submit proposals for the purpose wherever needed. He directed the officials to put up passenger sheds at helipads at places with high traffic. Executive Engineers were directed to complete the work by end of April 2021.
He also directed the DCs of both districts to verify the fire service re-certification and renewal at various helipads. The Divisional Commissioner also directed the officials to install fuel-tanks for ATF at decentralised locations in coordination with IOCL.
