JAMMU, July 22: The Union Territory administration in Ladakh has extended the tenure of Panchayat Administrators further for a period of three months.
A notification issued in this context read, “The tenure of the Administrators appointed vide notification SO 04 dated January 16, 2024 has expired on July 9, 2024, and the administration is satisfied that the Halqa Panchayats cannot be constituted immediately.”

“Now therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by proviso to section 9(1)(b) of the Jammu & Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act 1989, the administration hereby extends the tenure of Administrators appointed vide notification SO 04 dated January 16, 2024 for running the affairs of the Panchayat Halqas under their jurisdiction for further period of three months with effect from July 10, 2024 or till constitution of Halqa Panchayats, whichever is earlier,” read the notification.
