LEH, Apr 1: In a major step to give relief to the labourers who are the most affected section due to lockdown, Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur today sanctioned Rs 61, 74,400 in favour of the registered workers/ labourers.
As per the statement, 3090 workers/ labours from Leh district and 3084 workers/ labours from Kargil district registered with the Labour Commissioner Offices in Leh and Kargil will get Rs. 1000 each from this sanctioned money for the purchase of ration.
Keeping in view the nationwide lockdown since March 22 and suffering of the labours arising due to outbreak of deadly COVID-19 pandemic, the LG today took the decision by approving Rs 61,74,400 to help the most depriving class of the UT.
Meanwhile, police have registered 10 FIRs against people for defying prohibitory orders in Leh district of Ladakh, official said.
The prohibitory orders have been issued as part of the nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
Officials said the vehicles involved in the violations have also been seized.
It is once again appealed to the public to obey the prohibitory orders under Section 144 IPC failing which police will take stringent action warranted under law, they added.
