New Delhi, Feb 7: Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal called on Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport and Highways in New Delhi and raised the demand for early completion of Kargil-Zanskar (Sankoo-Padum) Road which was declared a NH301.
He informed the Union Minister that the road was entrusted to the J&K Government by MoRTH 2013. But due to unimpressive progress and non-completion on time since the past years the MP requested it to be entrusted to NHIDCL for timely completion.
MP Ladakh also requested the Minister for the transfer of 297.60km Darcha-Padam-Nimu road from BRO to NHIDCL for early completion which connects Union Territory of Ladakh with rest of the nation through Himachal Pradesh.
He said the roads are of strategic importance to the border security of the nation as well boosting the rural economy in the region and they also have an impact on the travel industry.
