Ladakh NH to be thrown open on Apr 5

SRINAGAR, Apr 1: To facilitate the people of Leh-Kargil region and to take stock of the efforts being made regarding the snow and landslide clearance for the opening of the Ladakh National Highway, the Minister of State for Science and Information Technology, Health, Education and Medical Education, Feroz Ahmad Khan today visited Captain Morh at Zojila and took stock of the arrangements being made for the opening of the National Highway.
Among others, Chief Executive Councillor, Kachoo Ahmad Ali and District Development Commissioner, Kargil, Fida Hussain also accompanied.
The Minister was informed that the snow and landslides have been cleared on the Ladakh National Highway and is safe for plying of traffic.
Earlier, the Minister also made threadbare discussions with the Chief Engineer, Beacon, R.K. Sharma and it was given out that the road will be thrown open on April 5, 2013 for light motor vehicles in case the weather conditions are conducive for the plying of traffic.
Feroz also interacted with the tourists at Sonamarg and enquired about the facilities being made available to them. He enjoined upon the people of the area to be hospitable to the tourists besides directed the administration and traffic authorities to streamline the traffic system to facilitate the people of the area besides the visiting tourists.
Several deputations also called on the Minister and put forth their demands and grievances. The Minister gave them a patient hearing and assured them that their genuine demands shall be looked into on priority.
Among others, Chief Executive Officer, Science and Technology, Muzaffar Ahmad Malik, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Ashiq Hussain, Chief Executive Officer, Ganderbal, Sonaullah, Tehsildar Kangan, G.A. Malla besides several officers accompanied the Minister.
