JAMMU, Mar 18: As part of the Students Experience in Regional Understanding (SERU) program, 30 students and representatives from Ladakh visited the Jammu Wing of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh to gain insights into the judiciary’s functioning.
The visit, aimed at fostering national integration and cultural exchange, was facilitated by Mayank Gupta, Joint Registrar Judicial, who guided the students through various courtrooms and legal proceedings.
During their visit, the students had an interactive session with Chief Justice Tashi Rabstan, who also hails from Ladakh. The students shared their experiences of the exposure tour, including their observations at the High Court.
Justice Rabstan encouraged the students to work hard, explore career opportunities in their region, and take advantage of various Government welfare schemes. He also urged them to spread awareness about these programs in their communities to ensure broader benefits for society.
The SERU initiative provides students with an opportunity to explore diverse cultures and educational avenues beyond their homeland. The delegation, consisting of 20 students from different parts of Ladakh, including Nubra, Kargil, Leh, Lamayuru, Shang, Nyoma, and Zanskar, is currently on an exposure tour titled “Rashtriya Ekatmata Yatra.” The program enables students to interact with their counterparts across the country, fostering regional understanding and national unity.
For many participants, this tour marks their first experience traveling outside Ladakh. Their itinerary includes visits to prominent educational institutions, historical sites, and cultural centers in Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu. The students expressed enthusiasm about their experiences, highlighting the importance of such initiatives in broadening their horizons.
Ladakh holds immense strategic and cultural significance for India, and initiatives like SERU play a vital role in strengthening national bonds. By exposing young minds to different regions and academic institutions, the program nurtures aspirations and a broader worldview. The visit to the High Court was an integral part of this learning experience, offering students valuable insights into India’s judicial system.
Also present at the interaction was M K Sharma, Principal Secretary to the Chief Justice.
