LEH, May 10: The first batch of Ladakhi students has boarded a special train with the students of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for their journey from Bangalore to Jammu.
The Nodal Officers assigned by the Administration of UT Ladakh are making every effort to collect the information of the residents and students wanting to come back to Ladakh in the continuing process of nationwide lockdown triggered by Coronavirus pandemic.
Today, the 1st batch of Ladakhi students started their journey from Bangalore to Jammu by a special train combined with the UT J&K students.
However, 3 buses with 75 passengers reached Jammu from Chandigarh, 2 buses from Chandi-Mandir Haryana left for Jammu this morning and 75 passengers of Kargil District including 25 passengers from Jodhpur and 50 from Shimla reached Jammu today.
A Jabalpur bus with 18 Ladakhi students started their journey and will reach Jammu on May 12. Twenty buses left Jammu for Kargil and 14 buses left for Leh today.
In the daily process of compiling information from hundreds of passengers through the connect.ladakh.gov.in online portal and at least a thousand phone calls, the nodal officers under the overall supervision of Divisional Commissioner UT Ladakh Saugat Biswas are coordinating with the various State Governments, District Administrations for the issue of vehicle passes/permits from host states, coordination with state-level officers to allow the movement of such vehicles, in addition to the advice to each passenger for strict maintenance of social distancing and other precautions.
The UT Administration is making every effort of safety and assistance to all the passengers.
Screening of every passenger is being carried out and the arrangement of food and refreshment is also being provided at various places. The administration also appreciates the voluntary assistance of providing food and refreshments by police, religious and other organisations to the passengers while on the way.
