Lady delivers baby in ambulance at Bani

KATHUA, Mar 27: A pregnant woman delivered a female baby in the newly launched 108 ambulance while on her way to Community Health Centre Bani from village Bari in Bani tehsil of Kathua district this afternoon.
As per reports, 108 Emergency Ambulance of CHC Bani, received a message from Emergency Response Centre, Jammu regarding a pregnancy case. On duty ambulance staff included Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Shahnawaz Hussain and driver of the ambulance Kranti Lal rushed towards Bari to shift the lady to hospital.
On reaching Bari, EMT quickly assessed the patient and knowing that her delivery was imminent he quickly shifted the patient inside the ambulance and took the vitals and advised left lateral position to the patient. The ambulance rushed towards the Hospital, CHC Bani. The EMT took the obstetric history and monitored the vitals while going to hospital.
While enroute to Hospital, the frequency of the patient increased. EMT observed that crowning of the head was seen. Looking at the situation EMT asked the driver to stop the ambulance and took ERCP advice for assisting a delivery. The lady delivered the baby and both mother and child are normal. They were later shifted to CHC Bani.
Confirming this the CMO, Kathua, Dr Ashok Chowdhary said that 108 ambulance is meant for the same purpose. He said both mother and baby are normal.
