JAMMU, May 22: An elderly lady lost her life in a road accident while her husband suffered injuries when the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a truck at Kaing near Amb area of Kot Bhalwal in the outskirts of Jammu city on Wednesday.
The deceased lady was identified as Vaishno Devi, 64, wife of Girdhari Lal, resident of Gurah Pattan.
She was on pillion seat and her husband Girdhari Lal, 73, was riding the motorcycle when a truck hit them near Amb area and the lady died on the spot while her husband was injured and was shifted to hospital by the cops and locals present on the occasion.
Girdhari Lal was undergoing treatment and his condition was stated to be out of danger till last reports.

Police sources informed that the erring Truck was bearing registration number JK02AQ-2757 while the ill fated motorcycle was having registration number JK02X-3173.
Immediately after the accident cops from Police Station Gharota led by SHO Inspector Sukhbir Singh rushed to the spot and shifted the injured and the deceased to the hospital and arrested the erring driver of the truck Ajaz Ahemed of Dabbar Meran.
A case in this regard has been registered at Police Station Gharota under Sections 279, 337, 304-A and investigation started.
