JAMMU, July 31: A delegation of Laghu Udyog Bharti, Jammu chapter led by its general secretary Parveen Pargal, met the Union Minister of State for Finance, Anurag Thakur in Delhi and apprised him of the issues of small scale industry in the State.
The team also presented a memorandum to the Union Minister with charter of demands. The members including Pargal, OP Mittal, Gagan Jain and CS Jain discussed the issues of MSME sector and continuation of fiscal incentives as per the previous VAT regime for the State of J&K for MSME sector.
They referred to the difficulties being faced by the J&K industries due to locational disadvantages, paucity of skilled labour, limited markets, being flanked by hostile neighbours, highly industrialization in Punjab etc. They said despite tall claims of providing benefit to J&K industry post GST regime, the desired package was withdrawn. The small scale industry has been in crisis in the State and struggling for its survival.
They pointed out that due non-availability of market in the State, the industry in the State is again facing problems. There is need to create market for the J&K industry. Non-availability of raw material and high cost of production is yet another issue. They requested to provide purchase references in PSUs, Govt Departments, Railways, National Highway Authorities, Indian Mint, Defence and Paramilitary Forces besides Central Govt projects.
It was conveyed that presently the disbursement of a little incentives available to the J&K industry, is being delayed due to cumbersome and lengthy procedure of sanctioning. The process be simplified for the convenience of the SSI unit holders. They also pleaded for establishment of mother industries in the J&K State.
The Minister gave a very patient hearing to the delegation and assured them of prompt attention to help the ailing MSME sector of the State.
