KATHUA, Apr 16: Kathua police today cracked down on illegal and illicit liquor trade at Khanwal village and destroyed near about 700 liters of Lahan in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) of Rajbagh.
Police said yesterday an information was received from the reliable source that illicit liquor is manufactured in Khanwal village and its adjoining areas of Police Post (PP) Marheen. Acting swiftly on a tipoff, a police team headed by PSI, Swaran Singh Manhas in charge Police Post (PP) Marheen on the directives of SSP, Kathua, Romesh Chander Kotwal and under the supervision of SDPO Border, Pankaj Soodan conducted a special raid in the area of PS Rajbagh near Khanwal village and its adjoining areas. During the search, around 600-700 liters of lahan was recovered from the fields unattended along with makeshift production units were also destroyed by the police party on spot. Thereafter all the recovered consignment of illicit liquor (Lahan) was destroyed and further investigation was taken up immediately.
