LAHDC apprises PUC of transmission & distribution network problem in Leh

LEH, July 4: The Committee on Public Undertakings headed by chairman Mohammad Sharif Niaz today convened a meeting with CEC, LAHDC, Rigzin Spalbar.
The meeting was also attended by DC Leh, Simrandeep Singh and other officers of District Administration.
Taking up the major issue concerning the entire district, the CEC brought into the notice of the committee the problem of electricity in Leh district despite surplus generation. He sought immediate approval of Rs 10 crore project submitted to the State and making operational the newly constructed two sub transmission divisions to harness the power supply from Alchi power plant effectively.
MLC Norbu Gyaltsan highlighted the problem of transmission and distribution of power in the district. He demanded remaining 30,000 electricity meter for Leh district, which the people of the district have been demanding for in order to pay electric bills based on meter readings.
The Councilors of the area also put forth their problems related to power and the Councilors of Nubra, Lingshet and Khaltsi submitted their memorandum highlighting  demands to the committee.
Considering the graveness of the power issue in the district, Chairman on behalf of the committee gave assurance to take up the issue for recommendation not only at committee level but also at personal level.
