LEH: Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh (LAHDC) approved an annual plan for the desert district at its General Council Meeting held under the chairmanship of CEC, LAHDC Dr Sonam Dawa here today.
Minister for Cooperatives, Chering Dorjey was also present during the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by EC, Agriculture, Tsering Wangdus, EC Works, Dorjey Motup, EC Animal Husbandry & Minority Affairs, Mumtaz Hussain, EC Tourism Tsering Sangdub, DC, Leh Prasanna Ramaswamy, SSP Leh Udhey Bhaskar, Councilors and all HODs.
In his welcome address, CEC informed the house that the annual budget of 2017-18 in respect of Leh district is pegged at Rs 129.48 crore against last year’s capex budget of Rs 108.84 crore.
At the very beginning of the session, CEC welcomed the Government’s move of releasing the 50% of this year’s budget in the month of February. He said this is going to be a huge help in initiating the developmental works well in time and thereby all the implementing agencies should leave no room for any kind of lapses in achieving the set goals. Dr Dawa also informed about extension of BAY terminus at Leh Airport for civilian aircrafts which would provide sufficient space for increasing number of aircrafts. The CEC also informed the house that a survey team from Indian Railway is all set to visit Ladakh very soon to conduct survey for construction of railway track to link Ladakh with rest of the country.
EC Agriculture, Tsering Wangdus made a special mention of central Government package of Rs 561 crore under Agriculture sector in Leh district and releasing its token money of Rs 13 lakh.
Other important points raised in the meeting by the Councilors included passing a resolution by the General Council to pressurize the Central Govt in giving recognition to Bhoti language in constitution, investigation of recent poaching case through an independent investigating agency and procurement of sufficient quantity of pea seeds for the farmers, promotion of smaller green houses to cover maximum needy farmers.
The Deputy Commissioner Leh gave valuable inputs regarding implementation of various schemes.
