LEH, July 5: Expressing their complete solidarity with the sexually assault victim, the LAHDC Councillors both from BJP and Congress have demanded early arrest of the alleged accused. They also demanded speedy trail of the case so as to provide justice to the victim.
Addressing a press conference here, nominated Councillor Rinchen Lhamo has appealed to all Ladakhis irrespective of all faith and religion to come out in support of sexual assault victim to seek early justice for her.
Nobra Deskit Constituency Councillor Tsering Angchuk expressed his anguish and concern over non-participations of all public in student peace protest rally. He questioned why Ladakh Buddhist Association fails to support the student rally. He alleged that LBA talks about the moral values but fails to support the students who held a rally to support the sexual assault victims.
Meanwhile responding to media query, LBA President PT Kunzang said that LBA was ready to support the rally but they were not invited while on the other hand, a number of other organizations were invited for the rally. He also added that rally was not focused on one sexual assault victim alone but there was some allegation against LBA so how can LBA participate in the rally taken out against it.
When asked why LBA’s CWC members didn’t take action against Tsewang Thinles when informed about the incident by the Ladakh Student Welfare Society Delhi letter’s dated 23rd June 2019, Kunzang said, “How can we take actions on a complain of a particular organization without any proof but soon after Police registered the FIR, CWC took action and sacked the accused from the post of President”.
He also informed that LBA General Council Meeting (GCM) will be held on 10th July to decide about the CWC action taken on the former President.
