JAMMU, Sept 29: Election for the post of Chairman-cum-CEC of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil will be held on October 1.
The Ladakh Affairs Department today notified schedule for the election, which will be held at 11 am at Conference Hall Baroo in Kargil.
The Ladakh Affairs Department has also nominated four Councilors to the LAHDC Kargil. They included Padma Dorjey, Zainab Bi, Stanzin Chosgyal and Leela Banoo.
With this strength of the LAHDC Kargil has gone up to 30 including 26 elected Councilors and four nominated. However, since nominated Councilors also have the voting right, the National Conference will now need support of 16 Councilors to form the local Government in Kargil.
NC has so far submitted the list of 14 Councilors out of 26 for formation of the local Government.
NC has 10 Councilors, Congress 8, PDP 2, BJP one and Independents 5. Four Councilors are nominated.
