LAHDC organizes ‘Ladakh Rpal Ngam Tuston’

LEH, Oct 18: To celebrate and take pride in Ladakh’s glorious past,  Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh,  today organized   “Ladakh Rpal Ngam Tuston” and the thematic subject for 2016 celebration was “400th Anniversary of Great King Singhe Namgyal’s Accession to the throne and contribution of Lama Staktsang Raspa and Spon Namkha Spalgon”.
LBA president, Tsewang Thinles was the chief guest on the occasion and heads of other religions, including president of Anjuman Imamia Leh, vice president Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam Leh and president Moravian Church Leh, were the guests of honour.
Others present on the occasion, included CEC, LAHDC Dr Sonam Dawa, ECs, Councilors, district officers, monks, prominent scholars and public that gathered in thousands at Leh polo ground to witness this special event.
The programme started at Leh Palace with auspicious beginning by offering LHASOL by Lardak Basgo followed by Lharna, address by CEC , brief introduction on Gyapo Singhe Namgyal by Prof Jamyang Gyaltson, Khanchen Tsewang Rigzin on Lama Stantsang Raspa, Gy Thupstan Paldan on Spon Namkha Spalgon and Sheikh M Javed on Gyalmo Gyal Khatoon.  Shondol dances were also performed in presence of Abi Padma Angmo  Nochung.
From Leh Palace,  a procession with ‘Chhos Puti’ written by Spon Namkha Spalgon, ‘cup saucer’ and ‘chak-ber’ of Lama Staksang Raspa was taken to Leh polo ground where it was displayed to public for blessing. A tradional cultural program was also presented on the occasion. Dr  Tsering Nurboo was honoured with special award of citation, Thangka and an amount of Rs 51,000 by LAHDC for his incredible contribution  in  the health sector and humanitarian services for the people of Ladakh. King Namgyal Jigmet Wangchuk gave an amount of Rs  51000 to the organizers of Ladakh Rpal-Ngam-Tuston 2016 on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Dr  Dawa said that the objective of celebrating this day was  to educate younger generations about the historical past and to campaign to take pride in the ancestral history along with culture and heritage He appealed to all the Ladakhis to value traditional dress and cuisine and to ensure preservation of the cultural heritage.
