LAHDC to project Trisha-Thoise Multipurpose MHP as National Project

LEH, Feb 4: To project the PMDP 24 MW Trisha-Thoise Multipurpose Micro Hydel Project over Saichen River Nubra as a National Project with Government of India funding, a meeting of all the stakeholders was convened by the Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Leh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal in presence of MLC Leh Cheering Dorjey Lakrook, here today.
The meeting, after detailed deliberation over the silent features of this major project, constituted a Consultative Committee under the chairmanship of CEC Jamyang Tsering Namgyal. The other members of the committee included Executive Councillor for Health Tsering Sandup as Co-Chairman of the Committee, Councilor Tegar and Councilor Hunder. The committee will incorporate all the relevant data of concerned departments like PDC, Revenue, PHE, I&FC, DRDO, Tourism, Fishery, R&B Division, Army, Horticulture, Agriculture, Wildlife, Forest, Animal and other relevant agencies and devise a DPR by the end of this month, which would be submit to the GoI for approval through State Govt.
MLC Leh Chering Dorjey said that this project on completion would play a major role in changing the map of Nurba Valley by contributing in every sphere of development mainly in the Siachen belt.
“Besides generating huge employment opportunities to the locals during the construction, this project would open a new avenue for irrigating a vast barren land through the Dam water. The Dam itself becomes a tourist attraction spot potentially viable for fishery related business while the long pending demand of bridge over Saichen river by the villagers of Kuri, Morgi and Charasa would also be fulfilled when this Dam is completed. Apart from this, the Dam would also prevent the soil erosion along Saichen River which was otherwise a major problems in this area,” Dorjey said and explained that this Dam will be raised by diverting Saichen River towards Thoise by tunneling 13 KM distance with underground power house at Thoise.
The Executive Councilor for Agriculture Phuntsog Stanzin raised the issue of pending hydel project at Domkhar Nallah.
The meeting was attended by Dy Chairman LAHDC, Leh Gyal P Wangyal, Executive Councilor for Health Tsering Sandup, Executive Councilor for Agriculture Phuntsog Stanzin, Additional District Development Commissioner, Leh Moses Kunzang, Councilor Teger Rigzin Lundup, Councillor Hunder Kunzang Lotos and all the concerned HODs of concerned department.
