KATHUA, July 27: In a major breakthrough against Narco smuggling menace , Police Station Lakhanpur apprehended two Inter-State narco smugglers with 09 Kilograms of Poppy Straw from their possession.
Police team of Police Station Lakhanpur during checking at NHW Lakhanpur intercepted one Punjab Roadways bus bearing Registration Number PB32J-7534 and recovered nine kg Poppy straw in illegal possession of two persons namely Jarnail Singh (driver of bus), S/o Joginder Singh R/o Budha Bhora tehsil and district Rupnagar, Ropar Punjab and Jaswinder Kumar (conductor of bus) S/O Lekh Raj R/o Chelan Bali , Fazilka Punjab.
Police Station Lakhanpur registered a case FIR No 49/2019 U/S 8/15/29 NDPS Act and investigation into the case set into motion.
Kathua police is striving hard and taking every possible step to make people especially youth aware to eradicate drug menace. “We request people of the area to come forward and share information about drug peddling or consumption on, with police for the cause”. The identity of such people will be kept a secret, a police officer said.
