KATHUA, June 25: In continuation to take tough action against the bovines smugglers within the district, Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal today succeeded in foiling a bovine smuggling bid in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Lakhanpur, rescued more than one dozen bovines, arrested accused and seized a tanker involved in the smuggling of the animals.
Police said a rare type of bovine smuggling bid was noticed under the jurisdiction of PS Lakhanpur in which a tanker was being used for illegal transportation of animals. A police team of PS Lakhanpur led by Inspector, Sumeet Sharma, SHO under the supervision of Dy SP DAR, Kathua, Sukhdev Singh while on naka checking duty intercepted the tanker bearing Registration Number JK21-1281 being driven by Harpaul Singh son of Avtar Singh of Nanak Nagar Jammu.
During checking of the tanker 13 bovines were found loaded inside it. Police rescued 13 bovines arrested the accused and seized the tanker.
A case vide FIR No. 80/2021 U/S 188 IPC,11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Lakhanpur and further investigation has been set into motion accordingly.
