KATHUA, Feb 19: Tightening the noose on bovine smugglers in Kathua, a team of Police Station, Lakhanpur in the district today foiled a bovine smuggling bid and rescued 20 animals which were loaded in a truck mercilessly.
Police said at about 1400 hours, a team from PS Lakhanpur led by Inspector, Bharat Sharma, SHO while on patrolling and naka checking at Toll Plaza Lakhanpur, NHW intercepted one truck bearing Registration Number JK02CC-9277, coming from Punjab towards Jammu and stopped it for checking. The driver parked his vehicle at some distance and was trying to escape from the spot. He was chased and apprehended at some distance by police.
During checking of the vehicle, 20 bovine animals (12 oxen & 8 cows) were found loaded in the vehicle.
A case has been registered at P/S Lakhanpur U/S 188, 11 PCA Act and further investigation is going on.
