Lakhanpur police rescues 7 bovines, seizes vehicle

KATHUA, Jan 7 : In its continued efforts to eradicate the menace of bovine smuggling from the society, district police Kathua under the overall supervision of SSP, R C Kotwal- today succeeded in foiling bovine smuggling attempt in the jurisdiction of PS Lakhanpur, rescued seven bovines and seized the vehicle involved.
Police said a team led by Inspector, Surinder Paul Singh SHO, Police Station (PS), Lakhanpur while on Naka/checking duty at New Toll Plaza, Lakhanpur noticed one suspicious vehicle (Canter) bearing Registration Number, JK02GD-5368 which was being driven by an unknown person who was signaled to stop for checking. Sensing danger driver of the Canter managed to fled away while taking the advantage of darkness.
On checking police found seven bovines (four oxen and three Cows) brutally tied with ropes in cruel manner which were being transported without any legal permission. Thereafter all the seven bovines were rescued and the vehicle involved was seized. Accordingly a case FIR No. 04/2022 US 188 IPC, 11/PCA Act was registered at Police Station Lakhanpur and further investigation into this matter has been initiated.
