Lakhanpur police seizes 150 bottles of illicit liquor

KATHUA, June 16: In a drive against the trade of illicit liquor menace in the district, Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal today recovered near about 150 bottles of illicit liquor near Basantpur and two persons were arrested in this connection.
Police said its team led by SI Vijay Kumar incharge Police Post (PP) Basantpur under the supervision of DySP DAR, Kathua, Sukhdev Singh during naka checking duty in its jurisdictional area near Basantpur, intercepted one suspicious car bearing Registration Number JK08F-6190.During checking, 150 bottles of J&K Desi Whisky of 180ml each were recovered from the possession of two accused namely Ranjeet Singh, son of Dhananter Singh of Ward Number 13 Kathua and his accomplice namely Rohit Singh, son of Kulbir Singh of Ward Number 10 Kathua.
Meanwhile all the recovered consignment of illicit liquor was seized, two persons were arrested and one vehicle was also seized.
In this regard, a case vide FIR No 77/2021 U/S 48(a) Excise Act stands registered at PS Lakhanpur and investigation has been initiated.
