JAMMU, Feb 23: Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) has claimed that Lakhanpur Toll Tax acts as back bone for the J&K industrial sector and it should be continued in the State.
A meeting of BBIA was held today under the presidentship of Lalit Mahajan in presence of Suresh Mahajan, senior vice president, Ajay Langer- general secretary, Vivek Singhal -secretary and Viraaj Malhotra -treasurer and other members to discuss the Toll Tax issue.
Members showed serious concern in respect of repeated attempts of some vested interests who are bent upon to destroy the Industrial Sector of J&K by raising their voice for personal gains for the removal of Toll Tax at Lakhanpur which may be resulting huge financial loss to the State exchequers as well as to the Industrial sector of J&K.
They said if the Toll Tax is withdrawn at Lakhanpur, the most sufferers will be the MSME sector of the State who are selling their products within the State and may be forced to close down their units as the State may be flooded with the cheap, substandard and banned goods from the neighbouring States without any check.
It was resolved in the meeting that Govt should not remove Toll Tax check post at Lakhanpur and the Toll exemptions should be continued in GST Regime to the existing as well as new Industrial units to compensate the additional transportation cost on the raw materials and finished goods and with the dilution of package of incentives under GST regime uncertainty is prevailing in the mind of Industrial units holders for their future as they are facing stiff competition from the outside suppliers.
They requested the Governor, Satya Pal Malik and Advisors to Governor to intervene into the matter to insure that Govt should not take any decision in hurry without taking the Stake holders into confidence on the Toll Tax issue.
