Lal Singh attacks NC

NEW DELHI, May 3:
A Congress member in Lok Sabha today attacked alliance partner National Conference for demanding autonomy for Kashmir saying any attempts to “divide the State” should be taken serious note of.
An emotionally charged Lal Singh’s attack on NC for its demand to have a separate (Sadr-e-Riyasat) Prime Minister got instant support from BJP members, including Haren Pathak and Arujn Ram Meghwal who associated themselves with him.
“How dare someone demand a separate Prime Minister…We are part and parcel of India and no one can change it. This is a conspiracy,” Singh said during Zero Hour amid thumping of desks by BJP members.
He said there should be “no autonomy” or “self rule” for the State as demanded by some sections.
No NC member was present in the House when the issue was raised.
“They are trying to divide the State. Don’t allow Jammu and Kashmir to be divided. Such alliance partners should be taken serious note of,” he said in an apparent reference to NC member Mehboob Beg’s remarks in the House yesterday favouring greater autonomy and Sadr-e-Riyasat for the State.
Lal Singh, whose party is a coalition partner of the Omar Abdullah-led Government, also attacked NC for not recruiting special police officers to deal with terrorism. (PTI)
