Lal Singh convenes public darbar

KATHUA, Sept 11: To listen to demands and problems of the people, Member Parliament, Ch. Lal Singh, convened a public darbar at Kathua here today which was attended by district and tehsil officers, Sarpanchs, Panchs and large number of  people from various areas of the district.
The representatives of various panchayats of the district  put forth  their demands and problems which included drinking water scarcity, low voltage, better road connectivity, speedy execution of PMGSY and MGNREGA works, shortage of ration supply,  shortage of teaching staff,  revenue related problems and fresh BPL survey.
The deputations from village Barni and Dhanore projected the problem of lack of proper road connectivity which has been washed away due to recent heavy rains besides the people from village Kainta demanded crates for protection of their agricultural land.
The people of various villages demanded early disposal of their old age pension and widow pension applications which are lying with the social welfare department since long.
The MP patiently heard the demands and  problems of the people and instructed the officers to mitigate the sufferings of the people within shortest possible time.
The MP took stock of various ongoing works and projects and directed the executing agencies to complete the works within specified period. He directed the PHE functionaries to restore proper supply of drinking water to the areas facing water shortage.
While speaking on the occasion, the MP said that  UPA Government headed by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is committed for  development and progress of the nation. He said that Central Govt has launched several schemes/programmes for the welfare of people and appealed the people to benefit from these schemes.
