Interacting with media persons here today, Ch Lal Singh, a former BJP leader offered support to former J&K Chief Minister and top AICC leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, if he unanimously agrees on these two important issues for the welfare of the people from Jammu region.
“I will definitely support Azad if he agrees on these two issues regarding Article 371 in J&K and separate statehood to Jammu region,” Lal Singh remarked.
Referring to the protection of jobs to the local unemployed youth and protecting land and properties of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Ch Lal Singh said article 371 should be imposed in the Jammu and Kashmir as has been done in Gujarat and 12 other states of the country.
“If this article can be imposed in several North-eastern states and even Gujarat for the protection of jobs and properties and lands of the locals, then what is the problem to the BJP Government to implement it here in J&K,” Lal Singh asserted.
DSSP leader regretted that Jammu region has been facing worst ever injustice and discrimination for the last many decades at the hands of Kashmiri as well as Delhi rulers. He pointed out that Jammu has an area of over 26,000 sq kms while Kashmir hardly 15000 sq kms but unfortunately number of districts there are equal to Jammu region, Moreover, more Assembly and Lok Sabha seats were accorded to Kashmir as compared to Jammu. Even Kashmir has more development and gets more funds for tourism and other sectors, he added.
“People had high hopes that under BJP Jammu will get justice but things have gone more worst during BJP regime. No political party talks of Jammu’s welfare. The present Govt at Delhi like other previous parties gives preference to Kashmir. In all the universities in Jammu, the VCs are outsiders. PSC head is also from outside, JK Bank directors and Mata Vaishnodevi Shrine Board members are also from outside. Most of the Jammu and Kashmir based officers have been sidelined. Nobody in the Administration listens to the public. The only solution of these things is separate Jammu state,” Lal Singh asserted.
He appealed to all the like-minded parties and social organizations of Jammu, civil society, JCCI, Jammu Bar Association members to come forward and launch a joint decisive movement for achieving the common goal.
