Lal Singh directs for upgradation of Sidhra nursery

JAMMU, July 9: Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment Choudhary Lal Singh has directed the Divisional Forest Officer to take up upgradation of the nursery at  Sidhra  and develop the saplings of seasonal plants  to meet the requirements for   plantation.
Direction was issued by the Minister while inspecting the Forest Department nursery at Sidhra, here today.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests A K Singh, Chief Conservator of Forests Roshan Jaggi besides other senior officers of Forests and its allied wings accompanied the Minister.
He also stressed on better upkeep of the nursery and directed the DFO to take up renovation of irrigation channel and ensure that the bushes are immediately removed in the nurse
Choudhary Lal Singh said that a comprehensive plan will be chalked out to develop all the nurseries of the department with adequate facilities. He stressed on motivating people for planting more and more tress and said that the department should provide free saplings for these initiatives.
The Minister appealed the people not to throw waste in open spaces and cooperate with the concerned departments to maintain cleanliness and preserving the environment. He asked the concerned to ensure implementation of ban on polythene in letter and spirit and take strict action against the violators. He also stressed on generating mass awareness   and sensitizing the general people about the issue.
