JAMMU, Jan 2: Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings Choudhary Lal Singh today inspected construction work on Rs 50 crore 200 beddded maternity hospital at Gandhi Nagar.
The Minister directed the R&B Department to gear up their men and machinery for timely completion of this prestigious project so that the people get this vital facility at the earliest.
The Minister said that with the completion of this maternity hospital the patient rush in SMGS hospital will be eased to a great extent.
Spelling out various measures for further improving health scenario in the State, Lal Singh said that Government has approved five more Government Medical Colleges, three in Jammu division and two in Kashmir division. He said land for establishment of five medical colleges in the State has been identified and directions have been issued to the concerned authorities to prepare detailed project report in this regard.
Chief Engineer R&B Alok Kumar Mangi, Superintendent Engineer R&B Sudhir Shah, Director Health Services Dr Baljeet Singh Pathania, Director Family Welfare Dr Baldev Raj Sharma, Mission Director NHM Dr Mohan Singh, Controller Drugs and Deputy Director Health Services Dr Ajay Gupta besides other senior officers of R&B and Health Department accompanied the Minister.
Meanwhile, Lal Singh conducted surprise inspection of Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Ramnagar in Udhampur district.
MLA Ramnagar R S. Pathania, Director Health Services Dr. Baljeet Singh Pathania, Director Family Welfare Dr. Baldev Raj Sharma, Mission Director NHM Dr. Mohan Singh, Controller Drugs and Food Control organization Lotika Khajuria besides other senior officers of Health Department accompanied the Minister.
The surprise check was conducted by the Minister in view of the complaints by the people regarding non-availability of medicos and paramedical staff in these hospitals during odd hours.
The Minister also emphasized the medicos and para-medicos to maintain dress code and cleanliness in the hospital. He said that patient care should be their prime concern as they are being considered as next to God and their devotion and hard work can save innumerable precious lives.
Choudhary Lal Singh said that the Government is working under a comprehensive plan to equip health institutions in all the rural as well as far-off areas with advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities.
The Minister expressed dismay over the shabby and unhygienic condition in the hospital and directed the Director Health Services to impose fine of Rs. 5000 to Block Medical Officer of the area. He also imposed fine of Rs. 1000 on storekeeper of the hospital for not maintaining the drug store properly and bincards.
Responding to the demand of people, Choudhary Lal Singh asked the Director Health Services to post one consultant Surgeon and Anaesthetists in the Sub-District hospital within one week.
