SRINAGAR, June 1: Minister for Health and Medical Education Department, ARI and Trainings departments, Lal Singh today visited Baltal and inspected the sites for setting up of 10 free medical aid camps for Shri Amarnathji Yatra beginning July 02, 2015.
He called for temporary engagement of trained unemployed medicos and paramedical staff for the Yatra duties so that routine healthcare delivery system doesn’t suffer.
Director General Indian System of Medicines Dr Abdul Kabir Dar, Director Family Welfare Dr. Baldev Sharma, Mission Director National Health Mission, Dr. Yash Pal Sharma, Project Director AIDS Control Society Dr. Mohan Singh, Deputy Director Health Services besides other senior officers of Medical, Health and ISM accompanied the Minister.
The Minister directed the officers to gear up their men and machinery to provide round-the-clock free healthcare facilities to Amarnath pilgrims along the Yatra routes. He instructed them to ensure that such camps are operational from July 02, when the annual Yatra commences.
Lal Singh said that instructions have been issued to the officers of medical, health and ISM departments to make healthcare facilities available right from Lakhanpur and along the twin routes (Baltal and Pahalgam) upto the cave shrine. He directed the officers to deploy adequate medical and paramedical staff and make proper arrangements for medicines and equipment at the medical aid camps along both the routes.
The Minister said that first medical aid camp for Amarnath Yatries will be arranged at base camp at Lakhanpur. He said within the distance of 20-kms, a medical aid camp with Ambulance facilities will be established at Kathua and then on to cave shrine.
Lal Singh directed the Health Department to temporarily engage local unemployed medicos and paramedics for Yatra period so that healthcare facilities to Shri Amarnath Yatries and also in health institutions do not suffer.
