Land access clause of new industrial policy mischievous: KCCI

SRINAGAR, May 15: Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) today termed the incorporation of Clause 2.11.2 of the State Industrial Policy which allows non-State Subjects free access to land as “mischievous”.
According to a statement issued here, the Chamber in a special meeting condemned the raking up of unnecessary controversies by a section of bureaucracy as a conspiracy to engage the State in further turmoil. The KCCI president, Mustaq A Wani expressed regret at the attitude displayed by the administration in ignoring the letter of caution given through communication dated March 9, 2016.
“The communication had urged for a comprehensive discussion on the Draft Industrial Policy before putting it in public domain, which received no response. Instead, the Government decided to post haste implement the policy which could prove detrimental to the peace and stability of our fragile State,” he said.
The Kashmir Chamber has also taken a serious note of the role being played by certain Centrally sponsored business organizations/chapters in promoting corporate interests aimed at diluting the interests of the State and its populace, the statement said.
“The KCCI discussed the various consequences of such policies, which the Chamber has opposed throughout. The Kashmir Chamber is very much conscious of the need for protection of our limited land and assets. Any move which threatens the Special Status of our State shall be appropriately opposed,” it added.
