JAMMU, Aug 3: The State Vigilance Commission while reviewing the progress made by Vigilance Organization in investigation of cases bearing public importance, particularly in land encroachment matters, directed Vigilance Organization that investigation in such cases be concluded in a time bound manner.
The State Vigilance Commission issued these directions while reviewing the progress in investigation of case FIR NO:05/2013 P/S VOJ DATED 14.03.2013, regarding alleged encroachment over State Forest Land by some persons at Mahamaya Forest area, in Dwada , Jammu.
The verification report submitted by Vigilance Organization before the SVC prima- facie revealed that about 374 kanals of State Forest Land in khasra No.59/41 in forest area Mahamaya in Dwada (Jammu) has been encroached by some persons in connivance and conspiracy with Revenue and Forest officials of the area. Besides, the concerned public servants by gross misuse of their official powers, dishonestly and fraudulently manipulated the Revenue records to facilitate some identified private persons for encroachment over State Forest Land thereby causing huge loss to the State Exchequer.
The SVC, to ensure speedy conclusion of the cases bearing public importance, has directed the Vigilance Organization to ensure that investigation in the matter is completed early, so that departmental and legal action is initiated against public servants involved as well encroachers booked and dealt strictly under relevant provisions of law, besides the encroached land being retrieved back to State.
