Land identified for 3 new Medical Colleges: Asiya

JAMMU, Apr 7: Minister of State for Health and Medical Education, Asiya Naqash while replying to a question of Haji Anayat Ali in the Legislative Council today said that the posts of consultants in district hospital Kargil have already been referred to the J&K Public Service Commission.
With regard to the posts of Medical Officers in the district, the minister said that the Department is in the process of referring the said posts to J&K Public Service Commission. As and when the selection list is received, the vacant posts shall be filled up accordingly, the Minister added.
While replying to another question of Ghulam Nabi Monga, the Minister said that out of 5 Medical Colleges sanctioned by the Centre land for 3 Medical Colleges has already been identified at Anantnag, Doda and Baramulla.
The Minister said that 206 kanals of land is under possession of District Hospital Baramulla, while as the DPR amounting to Rs. 189 Crore each as per the Medical Council of India (MCI) guidelines was submitted to the Union Government in November 2014. The Union Government has been requested for releases of funds to commence construction work, she added.
She said that the admission for the Medical courses shall commence according to MCI guidelines after the formal approval is accorded and the building infrastructure is raised.
Earlier, intervening, the Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Syed Basharat Bukhari said that the DPR for the Medical College at Baramulla has been reviewed and is being followed up.
