Landslide damages dozen houses in Doda

DODA, Apr 22: A dozen houses were damaged this morning in a landslide occurred in Kahara tehsil, however no causalities were reported as administration had already evacuated people to safe places.
According to the reports, heavy landslide buried a dozen residential houses in far off and hilly Dugan Bathri village, about 60 kilometre from Doda town at 9 AM.
“Seven residential houses got completely buried under the debris of massive landslide and 5 other houses got partially damaged due to shooting stones,” SP Bhaderwah, Raj Singh Gouria said, adding, the police team along with locals started rescue operation. “As of now, there is no report of any casualty or injury,” the officer added.
The SP said local residents had been shifted earlier to safer locations after a landslip warning was issued in the aftermath of the Bathri landside on March 13, in which over 35 shops were buried. Gouria said a police party was carrying out search operations in the village to ensure no one was trapped in the debris
He said the district administration has been alerted about the incident.
Meanwhile, MP and Minister in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh enquired about an incident from the district administration and offered every sort of help for the affected families.
