Langeh’s concern over contractual recruitment in Govt departments

JAMMU, Mar 20: Former State president and senior leader of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Tulsi Dass Langeh has expressed grave concern over new system of slavery duly sponsored by the Government wherein various Government departments were recruiting employees on contractual basis and paying them salaries far less as compared to regular employees.
“In various Government departments the same work which regular employees are doing on handsome salary, has been given to private contractors, who have deployed temporary employees on meager salary with no provision of holidays”, Langeh said and added that in case an employee falls ill and remains on leave, his salary for such period is deducted.
He further pointed out that with the increase in prices of essential commodities, these employees are compelled to work with the same salary, which they were getting at the initial stage whereas Government employees are getting Dearness Allowance. He said for these employees national festivals are meaningless, as they have to work 365 days in a year.
“Such contractors are called service provider but in fact they are bonded labourer providers”, he added.
“In the light of these facts, the rulers of democratic Government should think about these employees who are forced to work as bonded labourers”, Langeh said and asserted that the time has come to think about the future of forthcoming young generation by framing appropriate policies and programmes.
He advised the Government to stop privatization forthwith to avoid exploitation of human beings.
