Large quantity of banned polythene bags, glasses seized

KATHUA, May 18: State Taxes Department has seized a large quantity of banned polythene bags and glasses.
As per official sources, a team of State Taxes Enforcement Wing Lakhanpur led by Ranjeet Singh, Deputy Commissioner Enforcement Kathua HQ Lakhanpur along with RK Vaid, AC, Kaka Ram and Azhar Amin STOs seized huge quantity of banned polythene bags.
The Deputy Commissioner Ranjeet Singh informed that during the intervening night of May 17 and 18, the team intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK03J-3760 which was on its way from New Delhi to Srinagar. Click here to watch video
“Beside tax related discrepancies, a huge quantity of banned polythene carry bags below the recommended microns are being transported to Kashmir. After physical verification 34 quintals of polythene bags were seized”, he said, adding that one more truck was also seized which was loaded with banned polythene glasses.
He said that the truck operators always adopt the modus operandi of night time movement and kept the banned material beneath other consignments to dodge the alert teams.
After conducting the legal process under GST Act, the vehicle shall be handed over to Anti Polythene Check Post Lakhanpur for appropriate action under law, Deputy Commissioner Ranjeet Singh asserted.
