Lati, Dudu suffer for want of Gyne doctor

UDHAMPUR, Feb 10: Population of over 40,000 in Lati- Dhoona, Dudu, Man-Talai and Sudh-Mahadev area is badly suffering due to non-availability of Gynecologist (lady doctor) in the entire area.
Local leaders Mohd Aslam Wani, Abdul Rashid Malik and Mohd Abbas Naik alleged that in case of any delivery, the patients (women) are brought to Chenani hospital by the people by covering nearly 55 kms of distance. Basantgarh SD headquarers is also nearly 46 kms from Lati and there is also no lady doctor concern. The people of that area go to Ramnagar for deliveries. They pointed out that there is PHC at Lati and then another at Sudh Mahadev.
They said the issue was raised with the concerned higher authorities by the MLA Chenani Krishan Chander Bhagat and even they also at their own level with district administration and CMO but no Gynecologist was posted at Lati. Two general lady doctors one from ISM have been posted but they are unable to handle the cases. Even in case of normal deliveries the women are referred to Chenani hospital. At least the lady staff be provided special training to handle the cases. Some times local junior staffers handles cases at their own risk in the PHC but after the transfer of one doctor Din Mohd no doctor was placed. They urged the higher authorities in the Health Department to post Gynecologist at Lati PHC.
