Latti people project demand of Munsiff Court

UDHAMPUR, June 22: Latti Development Committee has urged upon the Chief Justice of J&K High Court  and the J&K Law Minister to establish a Munsiff Court at  Latti Tehsil headquarters.
In a meeting of the LDC held at Latti, the members issued an appeal to the Chief Justice of the State High Court  and Law Minister to realize the hardships of the people of this remote Dudu-Basantgarh area and set up a Munsiff Court.
They pointed out that the Munsiff court of the area is still with Ramnagar while this new Tehsil was created long back.  The distance of this town is about 125 kms from Ramnagar via Chenani and Udhampur and about 87 kms via Majori but there is no direct bus service  via this route to Ramnagar and road condition is worst.
This is the great mockery of the system that to reach Ramnagar, the people of this remote area have to cross  two courts at Chenani and Udhampur and they can not return home in the evening after attending court.  There are nine Panchayats  in this Tehsil having population of more than 35,000 souls. Even for getting bail in the normal cases, it takes several days to reach Ramnagar.   They issued appeal to the Government  to establish a Munsiff Court at Latti so that people do not suffer or shift its jurisdiction to Chenani court till a full fledged court is established here as it is more closer (56 kms) than Ramnagar or Udhampur.
