Law Day celebrated with fervour

Jammu, Nov 26: ‘Law Day’ was celebrated throughout the State with great fervour and enthusiasm.
District Legal Services Authority, Ramban, celebrated ‘Law Day’ at District Court Complex under the supervision of MA Chowdhary Principal District and Sessions Judge, (Chairman) DLSA, Ramban, Kusoom Pandita Sub Judge (Chairman) YLSC, Arun Kotwal Munsiff Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Ramban, president, Bar Association, MA Mustaq along with Bar members and retainer lawyers, Para-Legal Volunteers and others participated in the function.
Throwing light on the importance of the Day, MA Chowdhary said that ‘Law Day’ is celebrated in connection with the first sitting of the Constituent Assembly to draft the Constitution of India, which provides equality before Law to every citizen of the country without any discrimination.
“The day reminds us of our dedication to serve the society, particularly the poor and downtrodden sections of the society to ensure equal justice to all and take all steps to provide inexpensive and speedy justice to under-trials, which is their constitutional right”, he added.
Meanwhile, ‘Law Day’ was also observed at Tariq College of Education in Dassal, Rajouri, on the directions of District Legal Service Authority Rajouri (Pr District and Session Judge Rajouri).
Various dignitaries including Ahsan Mirza, Mr  Shoket, Advocate, Pawan Kapoor, Legal assistant and AB Shah, addressed the gathering and highlighted the significance of the Day.
Speaking on the occasion, Ahsan Mirza, briefed the aims and objectives of the various schemes and programmes being initiated by the Legal Services Authority, Rajouri, apart from the importance of the Day.
Staff of Tariq College of Education including principal, students and members of Rajouri Bar Associations, Anganwari workers, Para-Legal Volunteers, litigants and general public also participated in the function.
Similar functions were also held at all tehsil headquarters of Rajouri district.
‘Law Day’ was also celebrated in Kishtwar. The programme was organized in the premises of District Court Complex and was presided over by the Principal District & Sessions Judge Kishtwar Pawan Dev Kotwal who is Chairman of District Legal Services Authority also.
On this occasion besides members of Bar, Munsiff Kishtwar Umesh Sharma and prosecuting officer were also present. A large number of citizens and litigants also attended the function. Speaking on the occasion Pawan Dev Kotwal threw light on the purpose of celebrating November 26, as ‘Law Day’ and asked the gathering to take benefits of the different schemes. He also advised the gathering to know their rights and duties. Besides others, M.H.Waza, Rajesh Sharma and Sheikh Nasir Hussain Advocates also addressed the gathering.
