LAWDA is now J&K LCMA

SRINAGAR, Nov 3: The Union Territory Government of Jammu and Kashmir has renamed the Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) as the Jammu and Kashmir Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA).
A Government order said Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, in exercise of powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section (3) of the Jammu and Kashmir Development Act 1970 (Act XXX of 1970), hereby rename LAWDA as LCMA with immediate effect.
LAWDA was constituted in 1997 under SRO 109 to look after all lakes and waterways of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
A notification to renaming was issued today.
